Box Office: $63.2 million

1. Are there two or more named People of Color? No

2. Do they talk to each other? No

3. About something other than White people? No

4. Asian Bonus: Is there an Asian character? No

Passed? NO

Commentary: It would be hard to find an extra with color in this white-washed film. An argument could be made that half of it is set in Surrey, a small town in England but the rest of the story-line takes place in Los Angeles and so that reasoning is invalidated. Miles’ (Jack Black) girlfriend Maggie is part Filipino. However, her mixed roots are not enough for a passing grade. It should be noted that the four main stars (Isis- Kate Winslet, Amanda- Cameron Diaz, Graham- Jude Law and Miles- Jack Black) had these characters all written with them in mind. Fictional figures drafted around actual actors make it difficult for anyone to break into that casting. Inevitably, when a boy falls for a girl on paper- two Caucasians are what come to mind.
